GRIZZY AND THE LEMMINGS – CRAZY PARTY LAUNCHES THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, ON NINTENDO SWITCH, PS5, XBOX SERIES X|S AND PC

For ten years they've kept a bear from his nap. From Friday, there are four of you doing it: 50 mini games, 5 boards, 1 to 4 players in the same room, no online and no strangers.

A bear who asks for one thing: his jar of Yummy, his sofa, and some peace. A tribe of lemmings who have other ideas. For ten years, that argument has been settled without a single word of dialogue, in 200 territories. From August 7, it gets settled four at a time, on a sofa, one controller each. And there is still only one jar of Yummy.

Belgian developer and publisher Balio Studio and French animation studio HARI release Grizzy and the Lemmings – Crazy Party on August 7, 2026, digitally, for Nintendo Switch (Nintendo Switch 2 compatible), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store, priced at 39.99 EUR / 39.95 USD. It is the first console game adapted from the series, and it holds 50 mini games, 6 game modes and 5 boards, for 1 to 4 players in local multiplayer, in 30 languages.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY PLAY

A popcorn truck makes a run for it, and you have to chase it down and catch the kernels in mid-air. Grizzy is closing in on his fridge, and the only way to hold him off is to throw his own dinner in his face. A piñata bursts and you have to grab more of it than the other three. An ice floor melts one tile at a time, and you have to bet on which one will hold for another three seconds. A basketball court fills up with balls, and the hoop waits for nobody.

Elsewhere, a kart race has you weaving between power-ups and one badly parked bear. You fill your bucket under the clouds and run to empty it into the pool before anyone else does. A rope turns, faster and faster, and you have to jump at exactly the right moment. Four lemmings sprint away from a dinosaur, and only the one in front picks up the eggs. And to finish, you have to score past a goalkeeper who is seven feet tall and has no intention of moving.

Popcorn Chase, Fridge Frenzy, Candy Bash, Thin Ice, Jump Shot Jam, Drift Rush, Bucket Rush, Rope-a-Hop, Egg Rush, Striker Storm: ten mini games out of fifty, ten settings, ten ways to fight over the same jar of Yummy.

« One mini game, you can build. Fifty is a different job, » says Frédéric Baglio, Co-Founder and Technical Director at Balio Studio. « Each one has its own camera, its own rules, its own physics. A kart race has nothing in common with a piñata, and yet both have to run in four-player splitscreen, on Switch as well as on PS5. That is where most of the work went: making fifty different games feel like one. »

A COMEDY THAT DOES WITHOUT WORDS

Grizzy & the Lemmings is one of the very few globally distributed comedies told entirely without dialogue. Nothing to dub, nothing to understand in advance: a child in Seoul laughs at the same frame as a child in São Paulo, for exactly the same reason.

The game inherited that spirit. Every round opens with a short visual briefing, in pictures and button icons, and a few seconds is all it takes to know what to do. You hand a controller to someone who has never held one, and they play.

EVERYONE IN THE SAME ROOM

Crazy Party is played by one to four players locally, on every platform. There is no online play, no chat, and no interaction with strangers: a deliberate choice for a game rated PEGI 3. You play with the people who are there, and you can hear them laughing from the kitchen.

On Nintendo Switch, two players can start immediately with the two Joy-Con that come with the console. Four players need four Joy-Con, so a second pair. No Pro Controller is required. On PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, up to four players play with standard controllers. And when there are fewer than four of you, the empty slots are held by computer-controlled opponents, across all six modes and all fifty mini games.

FIVE BOARDS TAKEN FROM THE SERIES

ames are played out across five boards drawn from the show’s settings: Ranger’s House, Nutty Hill Road, the Diamond Mine, the Yummy Factory and the Lunar Base. Six game modes cycle through them, calibrated for different group sizes and session lengths, from a quick round to a full evening.

FORTY LEMMINGS, THIRTY-TWO OF THEM TO UNLOCK

he game has forty characters, thirty-two of which are unlocked by playing: a pirate lemming, a butterfly lemming, a penguin lemming, and around thirty more outfits best discovered for yourself. A hundred and fifty stickers are collected along the way.

THIRTY LANGUAGES FOR THE MENUS, NONE FOR THE GAMEPLAY

he game is localised into 30 languages, which is a surprising number for a title whose mini games contain almost no text. The distinction is simple: it is the menus, the modes, the collection and the score screens that are translated, so that no household is locked out of the shell of the game. The mini games themselves asked for nothing.

THREE BROTHERS, FIFTEEN PEOPLE

Balio Studio was founded in Mons by three brothers, Massimo, Frédéric and Adriano Baglio, and has fifteen people today. Crazy Party is the first title the studio publishes itself, and the first console game for the licence.

« What we wanted was to hear people laugh, » says Massimo Baglio, Co-Founder and CEO of Balio Studio. « In playtests, we watched families sit down for one round and stay for hours. Kids and parents on the same sofa, on equal terms, laughing at the same pratfalls. That is exactly what we were after. When HARI trusted us with the series, we knew what we wanted to get back: the mess of a Saturday morning episode, except this time you’re the one making it. »
